Author Guidelines

DEAR AUTHORS

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE 2025 VOLUMES OF OBITER ARE AT CAPACITY. ALL CONTRIBUTIONS RECEIVED FOR THE REST OF 2025 WILL ONLY BE PROCESSED IN 2026. YOU MAY STILL SUBMIT YOUR WORK IN 2025.

Contributions are received throughout the year and will be subject to blind peer-review prior to being accepted for publication. An English summary not exceeding 300 words must accompany the submission of full-length articles, which must preferably not exceed 10 000 words.

All contributions must be submitted in a recent version of Microsoft Word. 

Page charges will be levied. The tariff is ZAR 200,00 per page.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in a recent Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs or DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
